Welcome to Zakheni Training and Development CentreZakheni Training and Development Centre was established in the year 2003, on the 23th December, after a need was realized that our young population group was facing many challenges, and negatively impacted on their lives. Such challenges include teenage pregnancies, drug and substance abuse, gender-based violence, unemployment, human rights abuse and violations, HIV and AIDS. To address the challenges, the Centre initiated programmes that would involve the youth to be the force responsible in implementing the activities. Peer Education model for Adolescents and Young People (AYP) became the ideal notion. The organization initially operated in Soshanguve, Tshwane District, Gauteng. At a later stage, it expanded to rural areas of Greater Sekhukhune district, Tubatse Municipality, Limpopo Province, and Bojanala district, Rustenburg Municipality in the North West Province. Zakheni therefore works in three provinces with out Head office situated in Mabopane, Central House, Pretoria. The programme aims to deal with issues regarding HIV and AIDS Prevention, Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR), the protection and promotion of human rights for sustainable justice, and Community Capacity enhancement. The Programme further equips young people with coping leadership skills to deal with demands of life and enable them become competent participants in their society. |
